Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup toasted chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup butter,melted
  • 1 large egg,beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple extract

How To Make maple walnut muffins

  • Step 1
    To toast chopped walnuts:place in a single layer on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 6-7 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Stir together sifted flour,brown sugar,baking powder,baking soda and salt.
  • Step 3
    Stir toasted nuts into dry ingredients.
  • Step 4
    In another bowl,stir together buttermilk,maple syrup,butter,egg,vanilla and maple extract until blended.
  • Step 5
    Add buttermild mixture to dry ingredients and stir just to combine.
  • Step 6
    Spoon batter into greased or lined muffin tins.
  • Step 7
    Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 min.
