Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    real butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 2 large
    eggs
  • 1 Tbsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 3/4 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    nutmeg, freshly grated
  • 1/3 c
    buttermilk
  • 3
    bananas, riped and mashed well
  • 1 1/2 c
    pecans, chopped fine & toasted

How to Make Banana Bread

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease two 9 x 5 x 3" loaf pans. Set aside.
  2. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, one a time, beating until smooth. Stir in vanilla.
  3. Sift flour with spices; add to butter mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Mix until well mixed.
  4. Fold in bananas and nuts. Divide batter between pans.
  5. Bake 1 1/4 hours, or 1 hour & 15 minutes. Cool before slicing.
