Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup real butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, freshly grated
  • 1/3 cup buttermilk
  • 3 - bananas, riped and mashed well
  • 1 1/2 cups pecans, chopped fine & toasted

How To Make banana bread

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease two 9 x 5 x 3" loaf pans. Set aside.
  • Step 2
    Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, one a time, beating until smooth. Stir in vanilla.
  • Step 3
    Sift flour with spices; add to butter mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Mix until well mixed.
  • Step 4
    Fold in bananas and nuts. Divide batter between pans.
  • Step 5
    Bake 1 1/4 hours, or 1 hour & 15 minutes. Cool before slicing.
