How To Make make your own corn tortillas
-
Step 1Mix the masa harina with the salt and stir to combine. Add 1/4 cup water and then stir in enough of the remaining 1/4 cup water 1 tablespoon at a time. Your goal is a soft dough.
-
Step 2Divide the dough into 6 pieces and shape each piece into a ball. Roll out each of the 6 pieces -- place between 2 sheets of plastic wrap and roll to a 6" round disc.
-
Step 3Using a nonstick skillet, over medium high heat, add a dough round and cook until the tortilla is speckled with brown and puffs slightly -- about 1" on each side.
-
Step 4Move each tortilla to a plate -- cover with a kitchen towel. Cook remaining tortillas.
