When I lived with my grandmother, she woke up every morning at 4 am to make fresh tortillas. She always made sure that I ate a hot breakfast before I left for school. My favorite meal in the morning is breakfast tacos. It gave me energy for the rest of the day

Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
- 2 tablespoons olive oil, extra virgin
- 1 cup hot water
How To Make light and simple flour tortillas

Step 1In a large bowl add dry ingredients mix with fork.

Step 2Add shortening. Use a pastry cutter to blend shortening into the flour until resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 3Make a well in the center add hot water/olive oil combine with fork. When dough comes together lightly flour board and knead for 5 mins. Let rest for 30 mins.

Step 4Divide dough into 16 portions. Flour board/ rolling pin. Roll to desired size.

Step 5I like to use the mexican comal to cook the tortillas, but you can use a nonstick skillet.

Step 6Cook tortillas on both sides for about 1 min or until brown.
