This is a dense, heavy and moist loaf with a fine crumb. It says the chocolate and peanut butter chips are optional but we all know they really aren't!

  • 3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 4
    small, very ripe, bananas
  • 3/4 c
    smooth peanut butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    pure vanilla
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
  • 3/4 c
  • 1 1/2 c
    white sugar
  • 3
  • 1 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/2 c
    peanut butter chips (optional)

How to Make Peanut Butter Banana Bread


  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Very generously grease 2 8"X4" loaf pans with Crisco (I use butter flavored).
  2. Stir together first 5 ingredients in a small bowl. Set Aside.
  3. Place next 4 ingredients in another bowl. Set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, with a mixer, cream butter and sugar together for at least 3 minutes until light and fluffy (the yellow color should be much lighter when done). Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well and scraping down the bowl after each one.
  5. Using the mixer, blend the banana bowl ingredients and clean off the beaters, you are done with the mixer.
  6. Stir the banana mixture into the butter mixture with a wooden spoon or use my favorite, a silicone spoonula!
  7. Sift all the flour mixture into the big bowl and stir just until blended.
  8. Fold in all the chips and put batter equally into the prepared loaf pans.
  9. Bake approx. 70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
  10. Cool on a rack, in the pan, for 10 minutes before removing from pan to cool completely (a couple of hours at least) before slicing.
  11. Don't forget to share!
