Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/8 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon real maple extract
  • 1 1/2-2 tablespoons butter
  • 4-5 slices bread (your choice)
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 tablespoon powdered sugar (optional)

How To Make maple french toast

  • Step 1
In a wide, shallow bowl, mix together eggs, milk, sugar, salt and maple extract.
  • Step 2
Over medium heat, melt butter in 10-12 inch skillet.
  • Step 3
Working with one at a time, place slice of bread in egg mixture for 5 or 6 seconds, turn it over in the mixture to completely coat then place in skillet with melted butter.
  • Step 4
    Repeat with remaining slices.
  • Step 5
Fry for 2 to 3 minutes, checking undersides for browning; turn slices over when puffed up and golden brown on bottom.
  • Step 6
When both sides are lightly browned, remove to warm plate.
  • Step 7
Serve with warm maple syrup and powdered sugar for garnish, if desired. (A few strips of crispy bacon on the side is a great accompaniment!)
  • Step 8
    Refrigerate any leftovers.
