- 1/8 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 teaspoon real maple extract
- 1 1/2-2 tablespoons butter
- 4-5 slices bread (your choice)
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 tablespoon powdered sugar (optional)
How To Make maple french toast
-
Step 1In a wide, shallow bowl, mix together eggs, milk, sugar, salt and maple extract.
-
Step 2Over medium heat, melt butter in 10-12 inch skillet.
-
Step 3Working with one at a time, place slice of bread in egg mixture for 5 or 6 seconds, turn it over in the mixture to completely coat then place in skillet with melted butter.
-
Step 4Repeat with remaining slices.
-
Step 5Fry for 2 to 3 minutes, checking undersides for browning; turn slices over when puffed up and golden brown on bottom.
-
Step 6When both sides are lightly browned, remove to warm plate.
-
Step 7Serve with warm maple syrup and powdered sugar for garnish, if desired. (A few strips of crispy bacon on the side is a great accompaniment!)
-
Step 8Refrigerate any leftovers.
