This is a wonderfully, delicious way to kick off Christmas morning. Impress the adults in your family with this sophisticated, yet easy recipe. If preparing for children, you can leave out the rum add in, and substitute with more milk. Also, when soaking the raisins, soak in warm water with a teaspoon of rum extract. This recipe can be double or tripled.

Ingredients
- WAFFLE INGREDIENTS
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 - egg yolks
- 2 - egg whites
- 1 cup butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon rum extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup eggnog
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup rum
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- RAISINS AND ADD IN
- 1 cup raisins
- - enough rum to cover
- 3 tablespoons christmas jimmies or sprinkles
- TO SERVE
- - whipped cream
- - maple or butter pecan syrup
- OPTIONAL BUTTERED RUM SYRUP
- 1 stick butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup rum
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
How To Make christmas morning rum raisin belgian waffles

Step 1Take raisins and cover with rum for 1 day or at least overnight. Set aside.

Step 2Beat egg yolks and sugar for 1 minute. Add vanilla, rum extract, and melted butter. Beat until well incorporated. At this step, you can optionally brown your butter before you combine for a nuttier taste.

Step 3Separately, beat the heavy cream until it thickens, but does not become whipped cream yet. Add milk, eggnog, and rum.

Step 4In a separate bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, and baking powder. Toss with a fork until combined.

Step 5Alternately add the egg mixture and milk mixture to the flour mixture, beating as you go. Continue until all is added and well combined.

Step 6Add rum raisins and jimmies (sprinkles). Stir well.

Step 7In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks are formed. Fold into batter.

Step 8Preheat your waffle iron. Spray only the first time with non-stick spray. Follow your particular waffle iron instructions.

Step 9Serve with syrup, whipped cream, and sprinkles.

Step 10If making the buttered rum syrup, combine all ingredients in a sauce pan and cook down until a syrupy consistency. Serve warm.
