better with cheddar - apple bread

This recipe was tweaked by me, from a cookbook I purchased last Fall from a local Apple Festival I always attend. I like my changes better than the original...It's quite the delicious bread. I made this loaf for my mom, as a nice surprise, she loves it... Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup softened,butter
  • 1 cup packed, brown sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup each - shredded, yellow mild cheddar & shredded, white sharp cheddar
  • 1 cup small diced apple, about 1 medium

How To Make better with cheddar - apple bread

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Spray a 9 inch bread pan with bakers secret. Set aside. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add the eggs, vanilla and salt. Mix until well blended. Sift the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon & beat in half of this mixture with the wet ingredients.
  • Step 2
    In a small bowl, whisk the sour cream with the buttermilk. Add this to the wet mixture, mixing well again.
  • Step 3
    Add remaining flour mixture and beat well.
  • Step 4
    Fold in the apples, cheese and nuts.
  • Step 5
    Spread evenly into prepared bread pan and bake for 45- 50 minutes or until pick inserted in the center comes out dry.
  • Step 6
    Leave set in pan for 10 minutes before removing bread to continue cooling.
