self rising flour
1/2 c
sugar
1 c
beer, at room temperature (not light beer)
1/4 lb
butter, melted

How to Make Tavern Bread

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan.
  • 2Mix flour and sugar. Add beer and mix well.
  • 3Spoon into loaf pan. Bake for 45 minutes.
  • 4Remove from oven and pour melted butter over the loaf. Return to oven and bake 15 more.
  • 5NOTE: This can be frozen and reheated before serving.
