- - 1 cup unsulphured molassas
- - 1 cup sour cream or 1 c buttermilk
- - 2 1/3 cup ap flour
- - 3/4 tsp baking soda
- - 1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- - 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- - 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- - 1/2 tsp salt
How To Make old fashioned gingerbread

Step 1preheat oven to 350.Prepare 8 by 8 inch pan or an 13 by 9 pan for a thinner cake with butter and flour. Place the butter and molasses in small pan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Pour the mixture into the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Cool for 5 minutes, then mix in the sour cream

Step 2Meanwhile, sift the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt together in a small bowl. Mix with your hands until combined. With the mixer on low speed, slowly add the flour mixture to the molasses mixture and mix only until smooth.

Step 3Pour into the prepared pan and bake for about 35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Set aside to cool completely. Cut into squares and serve warm with butter or whipped cream.
