southern biscuits
I've had a few of you asking me to post my biscuit recipe after I posted the chicken and biscuit recipe a few weeks ago. So here it is. Thanks everyone.

Ingredients
- 3 cups self rising flour
- 1/2 cup all vegetable shortening
- 1/2-1 cup 2% milk
How To Make southern biscuits
-
Step 1Place flour in mixing bowl. Add shortening. Cream together with a fork.
-
Step 2I am guessing how much milk I use. Pour enough milk into flour mixture to work up a dough.
-
Step 3On waxed paper, spread more flour. Scoop flour mixture out of bowl onto waxed paper. Knead a few times for smoothness. Cut with biscuit cutter. Place on greased cookie sheet and bake for about 15 minutes in a very hot oven. 450*. Watch them as they can cook fast.
-
Step 4This is just a note. I do not measure anything when I make my biscuits. I place self rising flour in bowl and guess at amount by sight. Usually about 3 cups is enough for 10-12 biscuits. For my big family I use more. I cream the shortening in using a fork. When I add the milk, I just add a little at a time until it is at the consistency to make a dough. My grandmother, MamaBea and my Mama use plain flour and buttermilk. The changes in the recipe are the way I make them. :)
