A nice way to use up any leftover ham.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups self rising flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup ground ham ~ i use country ham
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded, sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper ~ optional
  • 3/4 - 1 cups buttermilk or enough to moisten
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted

How To Make ~ ham & cheddar biscuits ~

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 450 degree F. Add the flour to a bowl. Cut in 1/2 cup butter with a pastry cutter or fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Step 2
    Stir in the ham, mustard, pepper and cheese.
  • Step 3
    Add the buttermilk; stir until a moist dough forms. Drop dough by heaping teaspoonfuls onto a lightly greased baking sheet.
  • Step 4
    Bake for 10 - 13 minutes, or until lightly golden. Brush with melted butter.
