Woke up early and thought I'd try something a little different. My husband likes his biscuits on the dark side with a crispy top. This recipe surely does not disappoint! The cast iron delivers the crunch! Just turn it out onto your platter and cut into squares!

Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter, unsalted
  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 3/4 cups buttermilk

How To Make cast iron buttermilk biscuits

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 450. In a microwave safe bowl, melt butter and pour into your cast iron skillet.
  • Step 2
    Combine all dry ingredients in a medium mixing bowl.
  • Step 3
    Add buttermilk and stir to combine. It will be sticky.
  • Step 4
    Pour mixture over the top of your melted butter, using your hand to press down to fill to edges.
  • Step 5
    Place in preheated 450 degree oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes, rotating pan one while baking.
