Woke up early and thought I'd try something a little different. My husband likes his biscuits on the dark side with a crispy top. This recipe surely does not disappoint! The cast iron delivers the crunch! Just turn it out onto your platter and cut into squares!

butter, unsalted
2 1/2 c
all purpose flour
4 tsp
sugar
4 tsp
baking powder
2 tsp
salt
1 3/4 c
buttermilk

How to Make Cast Iron Buttermilk Biscuits

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 450.
    In a microwave safe bowl, melt butter and pour into your cast iron skillet.
  • 2Combine all dry ingredients in a medium mixing bowl.
  • 3Add buttermilk and stir to combine. It will be sticky.
  • 4Pour mixture over the top of your melted butter, using your hand to press down to fill to edges.
  • 5Place in preheated 450 degree oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes, rotating pan one while baking.
