buttermilk biscuits with strawberry butter

Whipped these up this morning for my husband and my grand daughter "little miss energy". They went to town on them! 8)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons butter crisco
  • STRAWBERRY BUTTER
  • 1/4 cup soft butter
  • 1-2 tablespoon favorite jam (i used strawberry)

How To Make buttermilk biscuits with strawberry butter

  • Step 1
    Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in butter Crisco. Then add buttermilk and stir until soft dough is formed (about 25 strokes).
  • Step 2
    Turn dough onto floured board and knead until smooth. Roll out to 1/2 inch for thick fluffy biscuits and a 1/4 inch for crusty thin biscuits.
  • Step 3
    Cut with floured cutter. Put biscuits on greased pan. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes or until slightly golden. STRAWBERRY BUTTER-Mix 1/4 cup soft butter and 1 to 2 Tablespoons of strawberry jam or your favorite flavor of jam and put it in a small container to keep in the refrigerator. Enjoy!
