I found this recipe in 1 of my mother's cookbooks.

  • 4 tablespoons buttermilk powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2/3 cup water

How To Make buttermilk biscuits

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    Sift together dry ingredients.
  • Step 3
    Cut in shortening.
  • Step 4
    Stir in water.
  • Step 5
    Knead for 30 seconds.
  • Step 6
    Roll 1/2-inch thick, no less, and cut out.
  • Step 7
    Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
