I have used this recipe since the early 50s and it has never failed me. My family loves them with butter and jelly or gravy.

Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 tablespoons shortening
- 1&1/2 cup buttermilk
How To Make biscuits

Step 1Preheat over to 350 degrees

Step 2sift together flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda

Step 3Cut in shortening with a shortening cutter or 2 knives

Step 4Incorporate the buttermilk all at once and stir just till moisten.

Step 5Pour dough out on a floured board or wax paper and knead 2 or 3 times. Don't over knead or will be tough.

Step 6Pat dough to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut dough with a cookie cutter into 10 biscuits. The last amount of dough, you can roll into biscuits with your hands.

Step 7Place biscuits on pan and bake in preheated oven set at 350 degrees for about 12 to 15 minutes.

Step 8NOTE: You may add 1 tablespoon of sugar to the dry ingredients when you sift dry ingredients together. If you don't have a cookie cutter, you may roll dough in your floured hands to make biscuits.
