How to Make Biscuits


  1. Preheat over to 350 degrees
  2. sift together flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda
  3. Cut in shortening with a shortening cutter or 2 knives
  4. Incorporate the buttermilk all at once and stir just till moisten.
  5. Pour dough out on a floured board or wax paper and knead 2 or 3 times. Don't over knead or will be tough.
  6. Pat dough to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut dough with a cookie cutter into 10 biscuits. The last amount of dough, you can roll into biscuits with your hands.
  7. Place biscuits on pan and bake in preheated oven set at 350 degrees for about 12 to 15 minutes.
  8. NOTE: You may add 1 tablespoon of sugar to the dry ingredients when you sift dry ingredients together. If you don't have a cookie cutter, you may roll dough in your floured hands to make biscuits.
