These are yummy biscuits, based on a Paula Deen recipe. Easy!

Ingredients
- 1 package yeast
- 1/2 cup lukewarm water
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3/4 cup crisco shortening
- 2 cups buttermilk
How To Make basic southern biscuits

Step 1Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.

Step 2Dissolve the yeast in warm water.

Step 3Mix the dry ingredients together.

Step 4Cut in the shortening.

Step 5Add the yeast mixture and buttermilk. Mix well.

Step 6Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll it out to the desired thickness. Cut with a small biscuit cutter and place on a greased cookie sheet.

Step 7Bake for about 12 minutes - or until they are gold en brown!
