Ingredients
- 1/4 cup cold butter
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- - pinch of salt
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 - eggs
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup raisins
How To Make whole wheat scones

Step 1Preheat the oven to 400F. Grease and flour a large baking sheet. Cut the butter into small pieces. Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl. Add butter and rub in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside.

Step 2In another bowl, beat together the eggs and buttermilk. Set aside 2 tbsp.for glazing. Stir the remaining egg mixture into dry ingredients until it just holds together. Stir in the raisins.

Step 3Roll out the dough about 3/4 inch thick. Stamp out circles with floured biscuit cutter. Place on prepared baking sheet and brush with the glaze.

Step 4Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden Allow to cool slightly before serving. Split in half with a fork while still warm and spread with butter and jam, if desired.
