Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup mashed cooked sweet potatoes
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

How To Make sweet potato biscuits

  • Step 1
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
  • Step 2
In a large bowl, mix the potatoes and milk.
  • Step 3
In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Cut in butter with 2 forks or a pastry blender. Will look like coarse cornmeal.
  • Step 4
Add the flour mixture to the potato mixture and combine to make a soft dough.
  • Step 5
Turn the dough out onto a floured board and knead lightly until the outside of the dough looks smooth.
  • Step 6
Roll the dough out to one-half inch thickness and cut with biscuit cutter.
  • Step 7
Place the biscuits on a greased pan and bake for about 15 minutes.
  • Step 8
Watch your oven: If the biscuits are browning too fast, lower the temperature to 400 degrees.
  • Step 9
Remove from oven & brush with melted butter & sift powdered sugar on top!
