  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup buttermilk

How To Make southern homemade buttermilk biscuits

  • Step 1
    Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Step 2
    Cut in the shortening, add the buttermilk, and mix well.
  • Step 3
    Turn out on a floured board.
  • Step 4
    Roll out and cut.
  • Step 5
    Bake at 450F until browned.
