yeast
1/4 c
warm water
2 1/2 c
self-rising flour
1/2 tsp
soda
1/2 c
shortening
1 tsp
salt
2 Tbsp
sugar
1 c
butter milk

How to Make Southern Dixie Biscuits

Step-by-Step

  • 1Dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside. mix dry ingredents in order given, cutting in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • 2Stir in milk and yeast mixture. blend throughly, knead dough lightly on floured surface. roll out and cut with a large floured biscuit cutter. let rise slightly about 1/2 hour. and bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or until slightly browned.
