Sandy's Homemade Herb & Cheddar Biscuits

These are a twist on my regular homemade buttermilk biscuits, they are more on the savory side!! Soft & Delicious!!!

  • 4 c
    all purposr flour (i use king arthur)
  • 1 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 6 tsp
    baking powder
  • 4 rounded Tbsp
    crisco shortening
  • 2 c
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    freshly grated coarse pepper
  • 2 or 3 Tbsp
    fresh or dried chopped chives
  • 2 Tbsp
    fresh or dried parsley
  • 2 Tbsp
    0r a smidge more of granulated garlic
  • 1 1/2 c
    medium or sharp grated tilamook cheddar
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    fresh or dried dill (opt)

How to Make Sandy's Homemade Herb & Cheddar Biscuits


  1. Combine dry ingredients in mixing bowl,cut in shortening& mix til it resembles coarse meal.
  2. Add all herbs & grated cheese & buttermilk to combine,Do not over mix.Place on floured surface and roll out with rolling pin about 1/4 inch thick.Use floured biscuit cutter to cut biscuits, place in greased baking pan, biscuits can touch one another, this will keep them soft.
  3. Bake @ 400 degrees (pre-heated oven) for abt. 15 minutes. Remove from oven and enjoy!
