sandy's homemade herb & cheddar biscuits

These are a twist on my regular homemade buttermilk biscuits, they are more on the savory side!! Soft & Delicious!!!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all purposr flour (i use king arthur)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 6 teaspoons baking powder
  • 4 rounded tablespoons crisco shortening
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons freshly grated coarse pepper
  • 2 or 3 tablespoons fresh or dried chopped chives
  • 2 tablespoons fresh or dried parsley
  • 2 tablespoons 0r a smidge more of granulated garlic
  • 1 1/2 cups medium or sharp grated tilamook cheddar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh or dried dill (opt)

How To Make sandy's homemade herb & cheddar biscuits

  • Step 1
    Combine dry ingredients in mixing bowl,cut in shortening& mix til it resembles coarse meal.
  • Step 2
    Add all herbs & grated cheese & buttermilk to combine,Do not over mix.Place on floured surface and roll out with rolling pin about 1/4 inch thick.Use floured biscuit cutter to cut biscuits, place in greased baking pan, biscuits can touch one another, this will keep them soft.
  • Step 3
    Bake @ 400 degrees (pre-heated oven) for abt. 15 minutes. Remove from oven and enjoy!
