My English cousin used to make these regularly for tea-time and I'm afraid they lived up to their name! You could peg a squirrel with one of her rock cakes and it would never bother your cherry or plum tree again!

Ingredients

1/2 lb
flour
1/2 tsp
baking powder
1-1/2 oz
butter, room temperature
1-1/2 oz
sugar
2 oz
currants or sultanas
1
egg
a little
milk

Step-By-Step

1Beat the butter into the flour, then add rest of dry ingredients and currants.
2Mix to stiff dough with well-beaten egg and milk.
3Bake in fairly hot oven 15 minutes.
