This was given to me over 40 years ago by a friend and neighbor. I've made these many times and my family loved them.

Ingredients

  • 5 c
    flour
  • 5 tsp
    baking powder
  • 3 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    crisco
  • 1 pkg
    yeast, cake
  • 1/4 c
    luke-warm water
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 c
    buttermilk

How to Make Refrigerator Biscuits

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in bowl. Cut in 1/2 cup of Crisco until it looks like fine meal.
  2. Dissolve 1 yeast cake into 1/4 cup lukewarm water. Mix baking soda into 2 cups of buttermilk. Mix liquids and add to flour mixture.
  3. Mix well. Put into greased bowl. Turn over so top will be greased---cover----use as needed. Pinch off and bake as many as you need.
