This was given to me over 40 years ago by a friend and neighbor. I've made these many times and my family loved them.

Ingredients

  • 5 cups flour
  • 5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 cup crisco
  • 1 package yeast, cake
  • 1/4 cup luke-warm water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups buttermilk

How To Make refrigerator biscuits

  • Step 1
    Mix flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in bowl. Cut in 1/2 cup of Crisco until it looks like fine meal.
  • Step 2
    Dissolve 1 yeast cake into 1/4 cup lukewarm water. Mix baking soda into 2 cups of buttermilk. Mix liquids and add to flour mixture.
  • Step 3
    Mix well. Put into greased bowl. Turn over so top will be greased---cover----use as needed. Pinch off and bake as many as you need.
