peppery cheddar biscuits

Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper, divided
- 2 tablespoons chilled butter, cut into small pieces
- 3/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 3/4 cup fat-free milk
- vegetable oil spray
- 1 egg white, slightly beaten
How To Make peppery cheddar biscuits

Step 1Combine flour, baking powder, salt and 1/4 tsp. black pepper in a large bowl.

Step 2Using a pastry cutter, mix in butter until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add cheese and toss well.

Step 3Add milk and stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead 4-5 times. Roll dough out to 1/2 " thick and then using a 2" biscuit cutter, cut into rounds.

Step 4Place biscuits on parchment lined baking sheets and brush with the egg white. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 tsp. black pepper on top of each biscuit.

Step 5Bake biscuits at 425 degrees F for approx. 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
