mom's easy homemade biscuits
(2 RATINGS)
Momma usually cooked biscuits three times a day when she wasn't working outside our home. Daddy was a farmer, worked hard, loved biscuits and hated cornbread! I sure miss the "good old days" around the farm.

How To Make mom's easy homemade biscuits
-
Step 1Grease baking pan or iron skillet with shortening. Mix flour, shortening and milk to the right consistency - add milk or flour whichever is needed. Drop by heaping tablespoons on greased pan. Use wet fingers to pat smooth the top of each biscuit. Bake 475 for 10 to 15 minutes. Check for doneness at 10 minutes since ovens vary. Serve hot with your favorite butter and jelly.

Step 2Years ago my mom used a wooden carved out bread bowl. She used the bread bowl to mix biscuits with her hands, forming the biscuits by hand and baking them in an iron skillet. She used extra flour or water on her hands to keep them from sticking to her hands.
