These Gems are so tender and flavorful...my kids like them with a scrambled egg and cheese on top... :) Enjoy! My photos

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, chilled and cut into small pieces
  • 1/3 cup buttermilk or a little more if needed
  • 1/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup minced ham
  • 2 tablespoons minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon spicy brown mustard

How To Make lovin from my oven - ham n cheddar biscuits

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 450 degree F. Grease baking pan or dish well. - I use a pie plate so biscuits touch nicely.
  • Step 2
    I also use my food processor for mixing flour, salt baking powder, and baking soda...then I add the milk. Pulse a few times till blended...I then pour into a medium sized bowl. Add the remaining ingredients; stir in to combine well.
  • Step 3
    If no processor... In a medium sized bowl, sift together flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Add butter and cut in with pastry blender until mixture looks like coarse meal. Blend in cheese, ham, mustard, and onions. Add buttermilk, stirring until dough is soft.
  • Step 4
    Knead lightly on floured surface.
  • Step 5
    Roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with a 2 inch cutter and place on prepared baking sheet.
  • Step 6
    Bake 10 minutes or until golden in color.
