honey sweet potato biscuits
These are great right out of the oven or with some dark thick apple butter smeared on.

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1 tablespoon orange peel
- 1 tablespoon lemon peel
- 3/4 cup mashed cooked sweet potatoes ( 1 large baked, peeled & mashed)
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/2 cup milk (about)
How To Make honey sweet potato biscuits

Step 1Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in large bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture is size of small peas. Add orange and lemon peels, sweet potato and honey; mix well.

Step 2Add enough milk to make soft, but not sticky, dough. Knead 3 or 4 tmes on lightly floured surface. Pat dough to 1-inch thickness and cut into biscuits using a 2-inch biscuit cutter. (you could also use a drinking glass turned upside down)

Step 3Place on a greaed baking sheet. Bake in preheated 400F oven 15 to 18 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve warm.
