Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup low protein all-purpose flour, e.g., white lily or martha white
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, cold
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1/4 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
How To Make "high rise" wheat biscuits

Step 1Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

Step 2Combine flours, baking powder and salt; then cut in stick of butter with pastry blender.

Step 3Combine remaining ingredients well and then add to dry mixture. Stir until it comes together as a lump of dough. Do NOT knead the dough.

Step 4Sprinkle whole wheat bench flour down and roll out dough to desired thickness, cut out biscuits and bake until golden brown - about 10 minutes.
