flaky sour cream biscuits

Our family loves sour cream & since I'm occasionally looking for ways to incorporate it into my recipes, I decided to try it in my biscuits. The result was a flaky, golden brown, soft on the inside delicious biscuit!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup chilled butter
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter for brushing biscuits

How To Make flaky sour cream biscuits

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 450 degrees
  • Step 2
    In a mixing bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, salt & baking soda.
  • Step 3
    Using a fork, cut in chilled butter until mixture resembles course cornmeal.
  • Step 4
    Blend in sour cream & milk until dough clings together.
  • Step 5
    On lightly floured surface, knead dough lightly.
  • Step 6
    Pat or roll out dough to about 1/2" thickness.
  • Step 7
    Cut out biscuits with floured biscuit cutter.
  • Step 8
    Place on baking sheet & bake 10-12 minutes.
  • Step 9
    Remove from oven & brush tops with melted butter.
  • Step 10
    Put back in oven about 5 minutes to let biscuits brown good.
  • Step 11
    Remove from oven & enjoy hot!!
