When I don't have time for cinnamon rolls, I make these quick treats for the kids.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 stick butter or margarine, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • GLAZE
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • - add enough powdered sugar for glaze consistency.

How To Make cinnamon biscuits

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 400 degrees; grease a 9 inch round baking pan.
  • Step 2
    Combine flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda in a medium bowl and mix well.
  • Step 3
    Stir in vegetable oil; add buttermilk and stir until just blended.
  • Step 4
    Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Roll dough into a 15x8 inch rectangle.
  • Step 5
    Spread butter over the dough.
  • Step 6
    Combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl, mix well. Sprinkle over butter.
  • Step 7
    Roll up jelly-roll style starting from ong side; pinch seams to seal.
  • Step 8
    Cut the roll into 1-1/2 inch slices; arrange the slices, cut side up, in prepared baking pan.
  • Step 9
    Bake until lightly browned, about 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Step 10
    Remove from oven; combine powdered sugar and milk to form a glaze; spread over tops of biscuits.
