unbleached all purpose flour
2 tsp
baking powder
1/2 tsp
baking soda
3/4 tsp
1 c
cold buttermilk
8 Tbsp
butter, unsalted, melted and cooled slightly

How to Make Buttermilk Drop Biscuits


  • 1preheat oven to 475.
  • 2whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and salt in a large bowl. combine buttermilk and melted butter in medium bowl, stirring until butter forms small clumps.
  • 3add buttermilk mixture to dry ingredients and stir until just incorporated and batter pulls away from sides of bowl.
  • 4using a large cookie scoop (3 tablespoons) scoop and drop biscuits onto parchment lined baking sheet.
  • 5bake until tops are golden brown and crisp, 12-14 minutes. brush with additional butter if desired.
