How to Make Biscuits

Step-by-Step

  1. Cut together:
flour, baking powder, salt and Crisco.
  2. Stir in shredded cheese (optional)
  3. gently stir in milk.
Turn onto a floured board (or the counter/kitchen table)
flatten to about 1 1/2 inch thick.
fold in half from the top - flatten to about 1 1/2 inch thick.
fold in half again from the right - flatten to about 1 1/2 inch thick.
fold in half again from the botton - flatten to about 1 1/2 inch thick.
fold in half again, from the left - flatten to about 1 1/2 inch thick.
  4. (You should now have a roughly square shape piece of dough)
pour a little bit of milk on the top (about 1-2 teaspoons) rub it across the entire top surface.
Using a knife, cut into squares (I usually do 9 or 12 depending)
  5. Put onto a baking sheet and bake for 12 - 17 min at 400°
