1/4 cwarm water
2 1/2 cflour
1 tspbaking powder
How to Make Angel Biscuits
- Mix the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar with shortening till crumbly.
Dissolve the yeast in the warm water
Add yeast mixture and buttermilk to flour mixture. Stir well.
- Knead on a floured surface and cut into biscuits. Let rise.(note they will not rise as high as yeast rolls - I usually like to provide on avg two hours.)
- Bake at 400 degrees till lightly brown.
*Can be kept in the refrigerator till ready to bake; however, take them out in time to rise.
* I often will replace about 3/4 cup of the flour for wheat flour. If you do this increase the yeast.
Makes about eight biscuits with about a 2-1/2 biscuit cutter.
