A nice alternative to the traditional yeast roll. Kids and adults love them with roasts, ham, turkey or chicken. :)

How to Make Angel Biscuits


  1. Mix the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar with shortening till crumbly.
    Dissolve the yeast in the warm water
    Add yeast mixture and buttermilk to flour mixture. Stir well.
  2. Knead on a floured surface and cut into biscuits. Let rise.(note they will not rise as high as yeast rolls - I usually like to provide on avg two hours.)
  3. Bake at 400 degrees till lightly brown.
    *Can be kept in the refrigerator till ready to bake; however, take them out in time to rise.
    * I often will replace about 3/4 cup of the flour for wheat flour. If you do this increase the yeast.
    Makes about eight biscuits with about a 2-1/2 biscuit cutter.
