I got this recipe when I lived in South Carolina. They're to make a day ahead and they also freeze well.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg
    yeast
  • 2 Tbsp
    water
  • 5 c
    flour
  • 1 c
    shortening
  • 1/4 c
    sugar
  • 2 c
    buttermilk
  • 1 Tbsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    salt

How to Make Angel Biscuits

Step-by-Step

  1. Dissolve yeast in water.
  2. Combine dry ingredients and cut in shortening.
  3. Add yeast and buttermilk. Mix thoroughly. Refrigerate overnight.
  4. Roll dough on floured surface. Cut into biscuits. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 - 12 minutes.
