1 pound challah bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
1 cup golden raisins, plumped in whiskey for 1 hour and drained
Butter for greasing the baking dish(es)
3 large eggs
¾ cup sugar
½ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground allspice
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon salt
3 cups whole milk
2 tablespoons molasses
Sauce:
1 cup sugar
6 tablespoons water
4 tablespoons butter
¼ c heavy cream
¼ teaspoon sea salt
4-6 tablespoons whiskey
