1 large purple onion cut into thin strips
1/2 teaspoon of dry oregano leaves, ground
1//4 teaspoon of freshly-ground pepper
4 tablespoons of vegetable oil
1/4 cup of red wine vinegar
1/2 teaspoon of brown sugar
