My mother made this recipe originally from her mother.

Ingredients

  • MEAT MIXTURE
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion,chopped
  • to taste - salt and pepper
  • 15 ounces peas, canned
  • - flour/water mixture for thickening
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
  • - margarine dots
  • - paprika
  • FOR MASHED POTATOES
  • 6 large potatoes, peeled
  • - milk
  • - margarine
  • to taste - salt and pepper

How To Make shepard's pie

  • Step 1
    Brown ground beef with onion, drain fat
  • Step 2
    Add salt, pepper, can of peas including pea juice.
  • Step 3
    Make flour/water mixture for thickening, add to meat mixture, then add Worcestershire sauce.
  • Step 4
    Make mashed potatoes
  • Step 5
    Line a 2 qt casserole with mashed potatoes about an inch thick on bottom and sides
  • Step 6
    Pour in meat mixture
  • Step 7
    Top with the rest of the mashed potatoes, Dot the top with margarine and paprika
  • Step 8
    Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes
