1 medium head cabbage, coarsely chopped (about 12 cups)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon bacon drippings
4 cups chicken stock (Kitchen Basics recommended)
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper, or to taste
