"These are the super-dense, moist, compact version of banana bread. Using nutty brown butter was an inspiration from Susan Vu in our kitchen, who always uses brown butter in everything. INGREDIENTS
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
1 cup mashed bananas (from 2 or 3 bananas)
2 sticks (16 tablespoons) unsalted butter, melted and cooked until dark brown
2 large eggs
3/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into chunks, at room temperature
6 ounces cream cheese, cut into chunks, at room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 vanilla bean, split and scraped, optional
2 cups confectioners' sugar
