Bacon, Cheddar, Spinach and Tomato Strata

  • butter for pan
  • 6 ounces bread, cut into cubes (I used 1/3 of an 18 ounce multigrain boule)
  • 4 ounces bacon, cut into lardons
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 3 plum tomatoes, peeled, seeded and chopped into small pieces (canned tomatoes are OK)
  • 5 ounces packet baby spinach
  • 6 ounces sharp cheddar cheese (use your favorite), grated
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • ~1/4 teaspoons fresh ground black pepper
  • Add Ingredients to Grocery List
