I have only had this recipe for about 10 years. It is the best meringue I have ever found.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

How To Make meringue

  • Step 1
    In a small container, mix the water the cornstarch together. Cook in a microwave for 30-45 seconds and stir until all blended together. Cool.
  • Step 2
    In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs whites until peaks start to form. Add the cooled cornstarch mixture, sugar, cream of tartar and vanilla. Beat for about 5 minutes. Spread on your pie and bring to the edge of your crust, or whatever you are needing meringue for. Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes until lightly browned.
