Apple slab pie - Chatelaine

INGREDIENTS
5 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tsp salt
1 cup cold lard , cubed
1 cup cold unsalted butter , cubed
3/4 to 1 cup ice water
8 Granny Smith apples , (about 1.5 kg), peeled and cut into scant 1/2-in. slices (10 cups)
2 tsp lemon zest
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 cup granulated sugar
2 tbsp cornstarch
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp freshly grated nutmeg , (optional)
3/4 cup icing sugar
3 1/2 tsp water
1 egg , mixed with 1 tsp water
