Here’s an all-time favorite. The best baking apples are both sweet and tart. Cynthia suggests using Cortland, Empire, Golden Delicious, or Granny Smith apples.

Cooking Time: 30 to 35 minutes
Yield: 9 servings
5 cups baking apples, peeled and sliced
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon white sugar or Splenda
Topping:
2/3 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup ground flaxseed
1/3 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup brown sugar or 2-1/2 tablespoons Brown Sugar Splenda
1/3 cup soft margarine
