Although this recipe can take some time to make it is well worth the time. My husband & I just love this recipe. It can be a bit spicy for some people. You can always cut down on the spices.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 3 medium potatoes
  • 2 medium chili peppers, chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 3 cups oil for frying

How To Make sanosas (deep fried pastry stuffed with spicy potatoes)

  • Step 1
In medium bowl mix flour, salt & oil until it resembles fine bread crumbs. Pour in water to make a smooth dough. Pat into a ball. Place on lightly floured surface and knead for 10 minutes. Return to bowl; cover & set aside. Boil potatoes until soft; remove and let cool; peel skin and dice into small pieces.
  • Step 2
Add all spices, chili peppers, cilantro and onions. Mix throughly. Divide dough into 15 equal portions; roll into balls. Roll out into 6 inch circles. Cut each in half and form into cones. Fill cones with equal portions of potato mix, seal. Heat oil in a large deep skillet. Place cones into oil a few at a time. Fry until golden brown; drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
