peppy pizza party dip

I first served this delicious dip about 9 years ago at a porch party that I had in my new neighborhood. You definitely don’t have to have a party or gathering to enjoy this heart-warming pizza dip. I like to have it when I am watching a movie, ballgame or just when I want a warm snack. I have family & friends who are meat-eaters, and some who don’t eat meat; I have several recipes that can either be vegetarian for those who don’t eat meat, or contain meat for the meat-eaters. This is such a recipe; I have included variations if you want to add meat. However -all enjoy this version.

Ingredients

  • 1 - (8 oz) container chive and onion cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon pizza sauce (i used classico traditional pizza sauce)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup red bell pepper, minced
  • 1/4 cup green bell pepper, minced

How To Make peppy pizza party dip

  • Step 1
Assemble ingredients, and preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step 2
Mix together the Chive and Onion Cream Cheese, sour cream and Italian Seasoning until smooth. Spread in the bottom of a 10-inch pie plate or 1-1/2 quart casserole dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Step 3
Mix the two cheeses and sprinkle evenly one-half of the cheeses on top of the cream cheese/sour cream mixture.
  • Step 4
Next, spoon the Pizza Sauce over the the cheeses. Sprinkle the peppers on top of the sauce.
  • Step 5
    Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
  • Step 6
Bake in 350 degrees oven for 20 minutes.
  • Step 7
Serve with Frito Corn Chips, Bagle Chips -and is especially good served with crisp bread sticks. Leftovers can be refrigerated and re-warmed and enjoyed later.
  • Step 8
    OH YUM!!!
  • Step 9
VARIATIONS AND SUBSTITUTIONS: (1) You can substitute the Chive and Onion Cream Cheese with 8 ounces soft Cream Cheese, and add dried chives and dried, minced onion to it and mix well. (2) To make this a Meat Pizza Dip, add 1/2 cup chopped Pepperoni and/or a Meat Pizza Sauce.
  • Step 10
AN AFTER THOUGHT -BUT A GOOD ONE: If you have left-overs (and unless you make it for just you, you probably won't), this is very good to have for lunch the next day served over noodles and accompanied by a small salad.
