I got this out of my Pioneer Woman Cooks cook book...I had these at the Texas Land and Cattle Co every time we go in and they are so good I also have a dipping sauce recipe on site here of which is my own sauce...I tried to come as close as I could to making the sauce they serve...Though there is a difference..but we like it...
prep time1 Hr 20 Min
cook time10 Min
cayenne pepper (to 1/2 tsp)
canola oil (to 2 quarts)
BLACK PEPPER TO TASTE
How To Make
Slice the onion as thin as you can. Place in a glass baking pan and cover with buttermilk, let them soak for 1 hour.
Combine dry ingredients and set aside.
Heat oil to 375*.
Throw a handful of onions into the flour mixture, shake any off excess, and place into the hot oil. Fry for a few minutes and remove as soon as they golden brown. Drain on a plate with a paper towel...
They are fantastic with my Spicy Dipping Sauce.....
