This is a very good recipe given to me by my sister-in-law. I make it every summer when we have extra okra.

  • 3 1/2 lb
    small okra pods (not more than 3-4
  • 1//3 c
  • 5
    small hot peppers
  • 2 tsp
    dill seeds
  • 5
    garlic bud
  • 1 qt
  • 1 pt
    apple cider vinegar

How to Make Okra Pickles


  1. Pack raw Okra firmly into hot jars, leaving a 1/4" headspace. Put garlic bud and a hot pepper into each jar of okra. Mix salt, water, vinegar and dill seed into a pot and bring to a boil. Pour hot mixture into jars over okra. Adjust caps. Process 15 minutes in boiling water. Start timing when they start boiling. Yields 4-5 pints.
