You can use this condiment can be used in many ways since we add the balsamic vinegar to counter balance the sweetness we can use this in both sweet and savory applications.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds sweet onions
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

How To Make multi-use caramelized onions

  • Step 1
    Thinly slice sweet onions with a knife or better yet a mandolin!
  • Step 2
    Heat large skillet on high. Add oil and butter turn heat to medium.
  • Step 3
    Add in onions and let cook till wilted.
  • Step 4
    Add sugar and molasses. Cook stirring occasionally. Onions should be brown and soft. Approximately 10- 15 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Remove from heat, add vinegar and stir.
  • Step 6
    This can be frozen for later use. We use this as a topping for pizza, on top of brie or other cheese, a topping for crackers. We also cook this with pork chops, sausage and steak. Imagine the uses!
