layered taco dip

To be honest I can not remember how this recipe came about, but my mom and I came up with it years ago and my family ALWAYS asks for it at parties. Our original recipe did not have salsa in it becaue my mom did not like things spicy, but I like a little spice so I added salsa into the mix. I hope you like it.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can black beans (drianed and rinsed)
  • 1 medium red onion
  • 1 large can diced tomatos (drained)
  • 2 cups mexican blend shredded cheese, or mozzarella
  • 1 small jar of salsa (heat level is up to you)
  • 1/2 package taco seasoning mix
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 - spring onions (chopped)
  • - tortilla chips

How To Make layered taco dip

  • Step 1
    brown ground beef, drain and rinse to get rid of the grease.
  • Step 2
    return meat to pan, add 1/2 the jar of salsa, taco seasoning, and water. Cook for 3 minutes.
  • Step 3
    in a baking dish layer in the beef mixture, diced tomatos, black beans, red onion, the remaining salsa, and the cheese.
  • Step 4
    cover and bake in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes
  • Step 5
    After 20 minutes crank the oven to 400 degrees, uncover and bake until cheese is melted and brown.
  • Step 6
    Top with spring onions and let cool. Serve with tortilla chips
